Shrink a Windows 7 Partition With Disk Manager

Here’s something nifty I found today – Windows 7 Disk Management, a MMC snap-in for Computer Management, allows you to resize a partition non-destructively from within Windows. No more DOS-based tools and special steps to fix windows after.

Just right-click the partition and chose Shrink Volume.

It will take a moment to determine sizes…

Depending on how many unmovable files you have determines the extent of possible shrinkage.

Job done!
